PARIS...........................................................2012

Monday, April 2, 2012

Robert Altman's classic film Prêt-à-Porter captures the spirit of Paris Fashion, and it doesn't exaggerate a single thing.

Fashion in Paris is cinematic and true to every magazine editorial you have ever seen. This I discovered for myself, when I headed to France, watercolours and notebooks in hand. There I attend the runways and exhibitions of the most important of the world's Fashion Weeks.

The drawings below are just a glimpse at what I saw and sought to illustrate while I was there in September and October, 2011. Highlights for me were invitations to houses such as Damir Doma, Lutz, Gapard Yurkievich, Steffie Christiaens, Valentin Yudashkin and Greg Lauren.

Visiting Le XXVIII au gout du jour at the Palace of Versailles, where the works of Christian Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Olivier Theyskens and Alexander McQueen were showcased, was also a wonderful sight, as was the Les Arts Decoratifs' brilliant retrospective on the craft of Hussein Chalayan.

The image above is one of my first impression of the Nefretiti like collection from Damir Doma, Spring Summer 2012.
