Scenes from the opening night...The Seductive and Subversive, Paradise Hills, Richmond

Monday, March 21, 2011

Rather than drawing for this exhibition, I worked to create a series of prints made from deconstructed white T-shirts. These images entitled The Veil are inspired by lace pieces and costuming. After passing a wedding party on the street, I was very inspired by the idea of a veil and issues surrounding the idea of a contemporary wedding. I saw the veil as something protective and magical even, this is my take on this ancient tradition.

The Seductive and Subversive runs at Paradise Hills Gallery until 2nd of April 2011. Images thanks to photographer Luke Oxley.
